How do I enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) in Connector?

TOTP multi-factor authentication adds an extra layer of protection to your Connector account, on top of your password, using a code from an authenticator app. Here's how to set it up:

1. Log in to Connector and click the account icon in the top right corner.
2. Select See full profile settings to go to your profile.
3. In the Multi-Factor Authentication section, click Enable TOTP MFA.
4. Open an authenticator app on your smartphone (e.g. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy).
5. Scan the QR code shown on screen with the app. If you can't scan a QR code, use the "this link" option on the same device instead, or enter the displayed secret code into the app manually.
6. Your authenticator app will now display a 6-digit code. Enter this code into the Authentication App Code field in Connector.
7. Click Verify TOTP MFA to complete the setup.
8. Done: Connector will confirm that TOTP multi-factor authentication is now active for your account.

What is TOTP and why do I need it?

TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) is a temporary, six-digit code generated by an authenticator app on your smartphone. It changes every 30 seconds and adds an extra layer of protection to your account, even if your password were ever compromised.

Which authenticator app should I use?

You can use any common TOTP-compatible app, for example Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy.

What if I can no longer see the secret code or QR code, or I cancel the setup?

You can cancel the process at any time using Cancel and start again later via Enable TOTP MFA.

What if I lose access to my authenticator app or run into issues during setup?
